I have always had a passion for motorbikes and the adrenaline they offer for as long as I can remember. As a kid, my dream and desire was to get my own dirt bike one day. Although I didn’t own my first MX bike until my early twenties, like most kids growing up, I also had the big urge to ride motorbikes. Watching the older boys run up and down the fields whilst smelling the strong smell of 2stroke as they passed, it just gripped me. So I did ride around the local fields and in the parks, on anything I could get my hands on, however, I soon learnt that the unwanted attention this gained along with the lack of safety presence wasn’t the best way, so that was it for me. Fast forward a few years, I discovered MX tracks where I saw a thriving community helping each other out, no matter what. Everyone and anyone could ride regardless of what level of rider you were. Furthermore, I found that my children took to MX from a young age. I taught them to respect the bike and their surroundings on the track. To ride to their own ability whilst watching others and learning from them, but most importantly, to have fun! They even got stuck in taking our bikes back to clean and maintain.
Then along came the bigger dream. What if we could start our own project and give it a name and meaning? A place where the grass roots of the sport can learn and gain the experience they need to progress to the next level or maybe go on and be the next big champion. Who knows? That's where “Blood Sweat & Gears” came to mind. Our team is dedicated to giving the help and knowledge to the next generation of riders whilst offering the fun factor to come and enjoy every aspect of MX riding and performance.
Having been around bikes all my life, from a young age I was always into the "thrill" and "speed" of motorbikes contry to my dad's feelings who hated them, but boys being boys I continued to ride them on and off road. At the age of 16 I got my first motorbike a Suzuki TS50, a good first bike for anyone who knows what they are.
Fast forward a few years I have seen the good in bikes and also having being part of West Yorkshire Police for 12 years, I also saw the bad part to them, and I've been around injuries & fatalities, and the bad that can come not only from any machine but more so, motorbikes. The idea came around and between us and the team we have alot of experience to share with the next generation of riders, showing how to maintain a motorbike and also how to learn to handle a motorbike safely.
Our organisation is set up to teach, inspire and help give advice to hopefully make a difference in a person's life and not only show how exciting these machines can be, but also show the downside to them if your respect is not given to them.
I am a freelance planning officer & senior site manager with a wealth of expertise in planning applications, policy, and procedures. I have extensive knowledge in this field, and I believe my insights and strategies will be an invaluable asset to this charity organisation.
I have been riding Motorcross bikes now for over 4 years. I love the freedom and excitement of being able to ride and just let off steam, but only in a safe and controlled environment. I too was a young lad who rode bikes on the street and down parks as I just wanted to feel that adrenaline pumping. I soon learned that riding off road wasn't safe or giving me the thrill I was seeking. I have wanted a motorbike ever since I was a young boy but it wasn't until I was in my late 30s I finally got the chance to own one. I haven't looked back since! Yes, it can be a dangerous sport but that's what our organisation is here to teach you, how to be safe and responsible but also how to enjoy it. With a little help from our dedicated team we will have you ripping up those tracks in no time!
I am so excited to be part of this new and innovative charity to help young people learn new skills and develop a good knowledge of the Motorcross industry. With 16 years of experience working with children of all ages and being a mother myself, I understand the struggles that they may face in today's society. When I heard of the plans to bring this new and exciting opportunity to our community I jumped at the chance to become part of the team. I believe we can make a real difference to so many young people and steer them in the right direction .
Having been around all types of bikes for as long as I can remember, I've always had a passion for riding, but also found a passion for the maintenance and repair side of things. There is nothing more rewarding than taking something broken and then standing back and admiring your work once it’s fixed. Every fix is a journey all of its own. Im looking forward to passing on my knowledge to anyone wanting to learn like I have done with my own children. I have taught them how to maintain and repair their own bikes properly and the importance of the machine being properly maintained and also to improve their experience of riding by making small tweaks, because when you become at one with your bike, that’s when you get the best experience!
Riding MX, there's nothing I enjoy doing more, and for the last ten years of riding, it's my way to forget the world's problems. I get my kit on, get the bike running, and I’m always raring to go. I have gained many friends and shared some great riding experiences with other riders, all with different skill levels. I remember the first time I was put on an MX bike, I rode off before I could even ride a push bike with stabilisers. That's how small I was.
I feel that Motocross isn’t about always being the fastest at the track, but taking the time to study the turns and jumps, and watching other riders, seeing their techniques and learning new ways to ride. I taught my brothers to ride the same way I was shown all of them years ago, and they now too enjoy being on the tracks. MX is about having fun with friends and family and, most importantly, staying safe.
